Thematic areas of work
As per the objectives of the organization, CIF is working on diverse issues under peace and justice with especial focus on human rights, conflict transformation & peace building, democracy & good governance and poverty reduction.
CIF has been conducting a series of national, regional and district level trainings on human rights (HR), democracy, governance, peace and conflict transformation targeting civil society actors and political party members. Interactions, workshops and discussion programmes have been arranged with government representatives, politicians and civil society members taken place covering above mentioned themes. Five regional networks and country-wise district level networks of the local organizations are created to encourage collective monitoring and advocacy for human rights protection and promotion. In this way, thousands of local organizations working on HR, peace, democracy and development sectors in the Terai region and eastern hills have been strengthened through the project activities.
Furthermore, activities like media series, social dialogues and conflict mediations have targeted community people. Weekly media programme on civic education on HR, democracy and good governance gets broadcasted thorough a national FM and a dozen of local FM stations. A number of listener clubs are formed and activated across the Terai region and eastern hills to encourage the target groups to listen to the programme. Social dialogues held in grass root levels have involved local government stakeholders and community leaders. In this course, community people are made aware of broad ranges of rights they are entitled to. Meanwhile, these initiates are crucial for advocating against malpractices like corruption, caste and gender based discrimination.
